Engineered specifically for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles, each
Motorcraft® oil filter, including the popular Motorcraft® FL-1A, uses as
many as 12 high-quality components. Construction features include:
| | - |
Steel Cases
"Ironed" for a precise fit, fluted to ease removal and painted for rust-resistance.
|
| | - |
Pressure Relief Valve
When it's cold outside or if the filter becomes clogged, oil flow through the filter
can be reduced. If this happens, the relief valve opens to provide a continuous oil
supply. Its design also minimizes the chance of contaminated oil recirculating back
|
| | - |
Anti-Drain Back Valve
This feature keeps oil in the filter to prevent "dry starts" after your engine has been
turned off. It's made with specially formulated material that resists the aging effects
that an engine's heat can cause.
|
| | - |
Efficient Filter Media
Re-engineered media increases Motorcraft® filters' dirt-collecting capability,
allowing them to capture more engine-harming particles than ever before.

The FL-1HP combines the unique filtering technology of the Motorcraft® FL-1A with a
new canister design for high-performance auto racing. The FL-1HP is a single stage full-flow
filter capable of handling the high oil flow rates of today's racing engines. Premium
quality filter paper allows the FL-1HP to perform under some of the hottest racing temperatures.
The base plate design provides full oil flow under high rev conditions.
The heavy duty oil filter canister will withstand burst pressures of up to 400 PSI. The FL-1HP
fits Ford, Chrysler and import cars wherever a Motorcraft® FL-1A filter is recommended.

| Motorcraft® offers specially designed silicone components in the
anti-drainback valves for oil filters FL-820S and FL-400S. The silicone valves retain flexibility
throughout the life of the filter. This ensures better oil retention in the filter and faster engine
start-up lubrication.

Many Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles built since 1995 are equipped with a
Cabin Air Filtration System. The Cabin Air Filtration System filters outside
air, which enters the passenger compartment through the vehicle's heating, ventilation and air
conditioning systems.
Air entering the vehicle can contain millions of microscopic particles, such as dust, pollen and
spores. The Cabin Air Filter removes more than 90% of these particles that are larger than 3
microns.
How big is a micron? The average grain of beach sand measures about 200 microns.
|
When to Replace the Cabin Air Filter
|
The system's filter should be replaced every 15,000 miles, or once each year. In especially dusty or polluted environments, the filter should be replaced more often.
